The 22nd of October 2010 was the date I set to film footage for my music video.
At 9am I walked up to the school to pick up the camera for filming, which was charged the night before by another student who had used it previously.
I and a friend travelled up to Sydenham by train to film the narrative footage at the bottom of my cousin’s estate. We arrived around 11:30. This is where I filmed my friend Harley and all her narrative parts, as well as the lead singer parts, which was played by my cousin. There were small narrative parts to be played by the rest of the band members. While filming outside, I used a tri-pod.
It took roughly and hour to film outside, and afterwards we all travelled by bus to Catford where all the indoor filming was to take place, including the instrument parts and the rest of the narrative section. When we arrived at the house, we stopped for lunch and I charged the camera, as it has lost some of its battery life.
When we resumed filming, the time was roughly 1:30pm. I finished filming the narrative which required some outside footage of the house as well as inside. We also needed to use the bedroom and a bed.
Finally, the last section I needed to film was the instrumental part, which I filmed on a white background. This was tricky, as the drums were larger then I anticipated and it was difficult getting the drums as well as the other members of the band in front of the white background.
While I was filming throughout the day, I had to take different shots of the same section, just to be certain I have a good shot. I also had to take into account the split screens I wish to add into my video, so I had to film extra parts.
I also had to take pictures for my digipak. I took a few pictures, but my main aim was to finish all of my filming. The filming finished at around 4pm.
I was relieved when I finished filming, because it was very stressful planning the day and the shots I was to film, but the overall experience was thoroughly enjoyable and I look forward to seeing my finished video.
